Combine several screens into a single virtual display using synergy 1.3
Synergy is free software that enables you to share a single mouse and a keyboard between multiple computers with different operating systems, each with its own display. You won’t need any additional or special hardware. More simply, it forms a single virtual screen from all computer screens.
In order to redirect the mouse, just move the mouse pointer off the edge of your screen. When the pointer moves off the edge of a screen, it is detected by synergy and jumps the pointer instantly to the neighboring screen.
The keyboard also works normally on each screen; input goes to whichever screen has the cursor..
Additional features of synergy:
- Synergy can merge several clipboards in all the systems into one thus allowing cut-and-paste between several systems.
- It can synchronize screen savers of all the systems allowing them to start and stop together. If screen locking is enabled, only one screen requires a password to unlock them all.
System requirements:
- Operating systems:
- windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP
- Mac OS X 10.2 or higher
- Unix (includes Linux, Solaris, Irix and other variants )
- X Windows version 11 revision 4 or up
- XTEST extension
(use “xdpyinfo | grep XTEST” to check for XTEST)
- TCP/IP network support
If you regularly use multiple computers on one desk, give synergy a try. You’ll wonder how you ever lived without it..!
